Alan Gavurin – MD and founder of Damson Health Alan is an expert on NHS Primary Care and has worked with GPs and NHS Community Services to develop primary and community care leadership and services for over 20 years. A former NHS senior manager, Alan has built three successful independent sector health care companies:
- The Development Support Partnership
- British Health Enterprise
- Assura Medical
At Assura, Alan led the development of Assura’s innovative joint venture model with GPs helping to form over 30 GP Provider companies covering more than 3 million patients. Through this work, Alan has gained unique experience in developing GP leadership to set up, run and grow GP organisations – ideal preparation for the implementation of the new NHS White Paper. Alan chaired the Cambridgeshire Integrated Care Organisation (ICO) project to improve End of Life Care, one of the DH’s sixteen national pilots. Alan has a particular expertise in helping clinicians develop commercial partnerships with independent sector health companies and in developing new organisational models. Alan led the GB Primarycare bidding team for NHS LIFT projects and was successful in winning five NHS contracts in Liverpool & Sefton, Coventry, Barnet, Enfield & Haringey, South West Hampshire and South East Essex. GB Primarycare has been responsible for delivering over £150m state of the art primary care resource centres across the country.
Most recently Alan has been working for a number of CCGs to help them optimise how they are using their new primary care facilities where there have been problems of under-utilisation.
